Thirty Questions, Part Three of Three
Here are Ada and Synthia's final ten questions:
21. Are they a leader or a follower?
Ada: She’s a quiet leader, but only because people tend to follow her lead whether she asks them to or not. Lab assistants, for instance, will always look to see what she’s working on and then try to figure out whether there’s any way to help so they can glean some knowledge off of her. When she’s given authority by an outside source (such as the U.S. military) she’ll definitely take advantage of it, but she’s not one to give inspiring speeches or to try to get the best out of someone. Rather, she’s the sort that tends to inspire people to be the best they can be so she’ll consider giving them a somewhat-impressed nod when they show her their work. I guess a better way to say it is that she’s the type who earns loyalty, whether she means to or not, rather than demanding it.
Synthia: Synthia is an inspirer. She wants people to be the best they can be

Thirty Questions, Part Two
Here are the next ten questions regarding Ada and Synthia:
11. What music do they listen to?
Ada: That’s a good question. I think she’d enjoy bopping around to kitschy pop music, and maybe even K-pop, more than anything else. She’s not a storyteller and she’s not looking for music that will tug at her heartstrings; when she plays music, she just wants something fun and dancy. She doesn’t play music when she’s working, because that is time better spent thinking, and it’s hard to focus when you have different rhythms and formulas playing in the background.  But when she’s wrapping gifts or making breakfast? Yeah. Boppy music all the way.
Synthia: Music is one area where she still needs to build an appreciation of her own. She can analyze music and tell you why a certain piece can be found appealing by a certain person, but she hasn’t yet reached the point where she is really sure whether she likes something because of that, or be

Critiques

Okay, overall, this is some really beautiful work. Zella's eyes snag me right at the start, and her features and hair are absolutely go...

I love images like this -- just the idea of catching a known character in a more normal, vulnerable moment has always appealed to me. I...

I just enjoy drawing, and don't have a particular goal in mind other than creating new characters and getting them out in front of the world to be seen (even if not very many people see them). I keep thinking I want to move toward a "comic con" type of style, but I'm not sure that's actually happening.

If you think you might want to commission me to draw a character of yours (or someone else's), drop me a line. Generally, full-figure digital pictures will run about $30 per character shown and will take a couple of weeks or so. Backgrounds and such will add to it, of course.

Having trouble deciding who to draw next...

Okay, let's do this!

So, picking the entrants who get drawings turned out to be really easy since everyone who asked is getting one :-)

I sort of timed this so I would have ideas lined up for my holiday break that's coming up, so I'll get started on them once I finish my current work in progress and then I'll do them as I'm able. Given drawings usually take about a week, give or take, I hope to have them all done by February, but it may take until the end of that month in reality. I want to give each of them my best shot, you know?

So, the projects are gonna be:
EmmitS -- Doctor Stefania Strange (Maybe Stephanie? I'm not sure whether to go with the commonality of a name or the gravitas). This idea definitely has me intrigued, and should be fun to work out.

Daegann -- Their OC Zoe, who looks kind of badass and should be fun to try out.

Stygii -- Their OC Enoch, a demon fellow that'll take me out of my usual comfort zone. It'll be fun to translate Stygii's style into my own.

KitsMits -- Her OC Kaiya, but with a bit of a punked-out twist. This is kind of a good-girl-gone-badass twist, which is always something I like to do.

Thank you, all, for throwing those ideas at me. It's ... what's the word I'm looking for? I feel very fortunate that these are things you want me to give a shot, and I hope I meet your expectations. I'll tap you on your shoulders when each of the pieces are done, and if you get any ideas or suggestions before I post them, feel free to drop me a line. As long as I haven't started the piece, I'll do my best to incorporate them.

My First GiveawaySo, I've felt really grateful lately for the support and encouragement I've received here, and even though there aren't really any milestones worth celebrating in sight, I figured I'd do a bit of a giveaway anyway.
So I'm going to pick from the people who enter at random and draw a head shot or bust of a character of their choice, whether a well known character, someone flying under the radar in their favorite series of novels, or a character of their own. The only limitations are that it isn't going to be risque, and if you want any chance of color being involved I'm going to need to be able to find a detailed description or photo online (that's the color blind factor coming into play). I think I'm best at drawing women, but male characters are totally allowed. Anthropromorphs... well, they'll be a bit of an experiment, but they're also fair game. It's your call!
If there was anyone you wanted to see done in my style (I should put that in quotes because I'm not sure I really have one.

So the worst part of stopping a work-in-progress for the night is knowing it's not very good yet and having an idea of how to fix it, but being afraid you'll die before you get the chance to and then having whoever finds it think you just really suck and had been fooling people the whole time.
Okay, closing the poll -- looks like Morrigan made a valiant comeback to tie Selina, but I'm gonna draw Selina first because I have a decent idea that will probably be quicker.
Anyone else feel bad when an artist they follow posts a request for critiques and you'd love to offer one but at the same time, you're thinking, "Dude, this would be like a high school physics teacher explaining astrophysics to NdT, so I'm gonna pass..."
Me, dressing the woman in the current WIP: It has to be cute, so I'll need to look through my resource files and maybe check out pinterest or reddit and I should probably budget a few hours for that...

Me, dressing her husband: Uhm...potato sack, I guess? Whatever.
Me: I think if I stick to a monochrome background, I'll be able to make something more interesting than my usual shapes, and it'll still be pretty quick, too...

Also me: *spends 8 hours on the background before even shading or adding details to it or the main focus character, which obviously need to happen*

Also also me: I think you're really missing the point here, Kev.

I'm open to them if someone pitches an idea I like, but I have so many ideas already that the odds aren't awesome. If you'd want to commission something, though, drop me a note and we can talk.
